Filipino nurses and CMDHB (Middlemore Hospital), NZ

To all those who want to apply in NZ and came across with some agencies, pls read this!

THE COUNTIES OF MANUKAU DHB (CMDHB) sent representative in the Philippines a couple of months ago to directly recruit some Filipino nurses with the help of POEA. IT IS A DIRECT RECRUITMENT SO NOBODY WANTS A RECRUITMENT AGENCY OR CONSULTANCY TO BACK THIS UP.

NZ did this to avoid the bogus agencies victimizing hundreds of Filipinos. Everyone here is aware of how corrupt and greedy some Filipinos are in terms of these. They also know how stupid some of us are because of our desperate need to get out from the Philippines and away from these corrupt officials who for self-interest do not allocate the tax money accordingly. What a shame! What a shame!!!

Do not be the next victim! If somebody tells you that they are tied up with CMDHB and even use Middlemore hospital as their front to entice you, please these are all nothing but a LIE!!!

I have known lots of Pinoy nurses who by courage and faith, came in NZ by themselves and trusted no agency. They came here from some trusted nurses or people who had helped and directed them what to do but asked no money from them. You just have to do all you own application, Nursing council, DFA, passport, immigration, etc. DO IT BY YOURSELF AND BE BRAVE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY TO DO ALL YOUR APPLICATIONS AND EVEN CALLING SOME SCHOOLS TO APPLY FOR COMPETENCY COURSE! YOU THINK, YOU CAN SAVE MONEY BY ASKING AGENCY TO DO IT! IF YOU WILL DO IT BY YOURSELF, YOU WILL SAVE HALF OF THE MONEY THEY ARE ASKING FROM YOU. GUYS, AGENCY IS A BUSINESS, AND THAT'S WHY THEY ARE IN THAT BUSINESS BECAUSE IT CREATES MONEY. IT'S NOT AN NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION! HAHAHA!!! BY BELIEVING IN YOURSELF AND DOING THE RIGHT RESEARCH, YOU WILL DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND SAVE THE NAME OF ALL US, FILIPINOS!

May the FORCE be with you all!

I was once a victim. Nobody told me. No blog had been written. No warning. No signs.
It's up to you now. Believe me or not!

hi, thanks for the advice. I assume you're a filipino as well. Yes i believe most (not all) agencies are bogus and at some point they are in it just for the money. Is NZ still accepting filipino nurses? what about 2nd coursers? how strong is the demand for nurses at this time?

I've read a lot of articles as well as threads from this forum that NZ does not accept filipino nurses who are second coursers. They only accept those who finished their BSN for four years..

It's better if you contact the nursing council (google it for the website) and ask them whether via email or phone. I am not sure but what they said was, only the second courser would be difficult to apply. If you are second courser or just graduated and without at least 1 year job experience, the nursing council will automatically decline your application for registration, thereby not qualifying you to undergo any bridging course in the country.

Yes, there is a high demand for nursing jobs in the country. But first you need to be qualified. NZ is still accepting Filipino nurses. The question is, "are u qualified?" and "can u do the job safely and properly?"

Getting IELTS of 7, registration from the nursing council (this is to allow you to undergo the 6-8 wks competency or bridging course in NZ) , and passing the registration thru bridging course are the three keys to getting your job in NZ. Eve if you're still waiting for your registration, you can search the net and apply for possible employers in different hospitals in the country. You can apply online and they will get back to you in 1-2 weeks whether you are qualified or not for an interview. See? That quick! If they don't get back to you in a week, you can contact them and ask your status and DEFINITELY they will get back to you. Kiwis are polite people. Not replying to any query is regarded as rudeness. And they hate rude people. You can apply as many as you can and be upfront on what you want. Honesty is vital and they won't take it against you if you happen to prefer the other job than theirs.

I hope this helps.

Let's keep upbeat while we can!
