Does the CES from CGFNS require local board?

On the CGFNS requires for CES it indicates that they will evaluate your licensure from your origin country where you got your education. Does this mean that if you don't have license local boards in philippines that they won't do a CES for me?
If CES is required for every state to obtain licensure by exam then how can I be a nurse in the states without having local board exam here first?

No where does it state that you need to have a license for the CES, just that if you have one you must list it. The CES is strictly a credentials eval, nothing more. If you do not have a license, they cannot evaluate the license part. The CGFNS exam requires that you have a license, or get a waiver for special circumstances, such as you attended nursing school in another country, and were not legally permitted to sit for the exam there.
The CES does not have any requirements, you are looking at an application used by all nurses, some with licenses in several countries.

And the CES is not required for every state.

Please post anything having to do with licensure to work in the US, or immigration issues on the International Forum. If it is not something that deals strictly with Filipinos, please post it on the Internatioanl Forum. Same thing with licensure questions. Foreign nurses have different requirements that must be completed, not the same things for an American nurse.

There are many others that ask the same questions and it is much easier to keep them all in the same place.

Is it possible that even though the CES does not require you to have license in your origin country that the state board I am applying to will require me to have local board license?
I'm now looking into maryland because it is closest to where I will be when I arrive to America.

Do not go to Maryland for initial licensure, it has a language requirement. Soem state boards do require that you have a license in your home country, such as Vermont.

I told you what to do already, you are just making it more difficult on yourself.

hi suzanne4, i think what janiceLM is referring to is the application that you will have to fill-up when you want you have your credentials evaluated by CGFNS. Because the application has two parts, one is for the school from whom the applicant has graduated from and the other part is from the licensing agency of the cpuntry where the applicant comes from. i am am currently subcribing to the CES of CGFNS and i too did not take any licensure exam in the Philippines. On my status on the CGFNS website, they are still waiting for my license evaluation from the Philippines but I already told them so many times through email and through the application that I have no license from the Philippines and still, my status on the CGFNS doesnt change, they are still waiting for my license evaluation frm the Philippines. Oh well, I guess I have to keep on telling the CGFNS that I have not taken any licensure exam in the Philippines until they understand what I have been saying for the last three months since I have subscribe to thewir CES service.

hello! asiagarden. i'm also interested to know the answer to the question whether cgfns ces requires a license from the country of education of the applicant. some friends will be applying for ces but did not sit for the local board exams. many state BONs do not also require that applicants must first be licensed in their countries. when you get an answer/info from cgfns, i hope you can share it with us here. i also hope someone in the US can call cgfns office in PA and ask this question. somebody here in the forum once called cgfns about the issue of local license and whether it is required for visascreen, and the answer of cgfns was no. it was a Big info to everyone seeking for an answer.

I think vermont BON doesnt require a local license from a home country like the Philippines, if you dont have one just explain it to a letter to them.
