Comments on Lanting

by medtek

Hi to everyone. I’m 25 yrs old and a would-be 2nd courser nursing student.

Like other second coursers, it took me a while of careful consideration in looking for a good nursing school to invest my time and money. Finally I’ve settled for Dr. Carlos Lanting College and hopefully I’ll start by this summer.

I’ve heard mostly good comments about Lanting but the info I found on this link http://www.ofwguide.com/article_item.php?articleid=161 is a bit disturbing. It says Lanting is one of the schools given closure notice due to poor performance and failure to comply with the requirements set by the CHED. Though it’s a bit dated and Lanting is still in operation (as far as I know), I’d still like anybody to comment on this.

I’m excited to start this nursing career path and I’m just hoping there will be no hitches on the way. Any comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated, especially from previous students of Lanting. Thanks!!

Hi, I am so glad that you chose Lanting. I am a relative of the owner of the school.I graduated from the same school last year, took my local board last December and I am an RN now. I give credit to Lanting for taking good care of its students. And I hope that you can prove that when you get to study there.

Region 5 is in Bicol.Lanting has a branch in Bicol. The main campus in Tandang Sora is doing well and has no problems. The one in Bicol is the one with the problem. So don't be scared.

Study well, you will be well taken care of. :-)

Hi there.
I suggest that you have to verify the validity of their license and accreditations at Comm. on Higher education (CHED). You can also check if their curriculum is good enough at PRC and CHED.
God Bless.

Yes, do that.Check the curriculum so you can be assured that I am telling you the truth. Not because I am a relative of the owner but because I believe in what the school can do for you. :-)

I also have spoken to several friends in school and they are all opting to transfer to lanting but based on my own experiences with the students before who i had the chance to interact with during OR duties, i was surprised at the range of their exposures or knowledge about the subject we were discussing. I do not mean to downgrade the quality of education the school is providing but i would like to ask the threadstarter to ask around and get more info regarding the school. most of my schoolmates are opting to transfer because most of the people they've talked to apparently told them that it's really easy to get high grades and pass the course in lanting. this is just my opinion since i believe the greatness of a student still relies in his ability to exert effort in studying. peace!

Peace to you as well.I respect your opinion. But it's the student who has the power to mold himself/herself into the best nurse that he or she can be.The Lanting students that you have interacted with do not represent all the Nursing students of the school.Me and a lot of my classmates passed the Board exam last December because we were focused and determined to reach our goals.Even if we are second coursers and we are above the age of 30.One has to love being a nurse to be a good nurse. It's about one's focus and mindset.I love being a nurse so much that sometimes, I tend to forget that I am also a PT.It's not about the school, it's about the student.I hope that I made sense somehow. :-)

Godspeed :-)

Thanks for all ur replies. I believe too that one shouldn't be dependent on the school, the biggest factor for success as a good nurses is in the individual to strive hard in learning as much as he can. Though it would also help if the school have a good standard of education to begin with. And as far as I know, Lanting dont fall below standard since it's been proven to produce nurses who is accepted here and abroad.

Silvercloud, upon looking for links if Lanting has a CHEd license, I chance upon this site http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/topoftheh...?StoryId=24419. It says that Lanting - Quezon City is one of the schools ordered by Sen. Drilon to be closed for having zero passing rate in licensure exams! Although it didn't indicate if the Nursing license exam is included. I'm really confused. Since you've been a student there, can you enlightened me on this.

Hi medtek.Lanting has different courses offered like Maritime,Education etc. Sen. Drilon did not pinpont the College of Nursing of Lanting because the school has been doing well in producing Nursing Licensure Board topnotchers and board passers.Last December 2006, we got the 6th and 9th places for board topnotchers. The other courses offered by Lanting are the ones having problems not the College of Nursing. In fact, the graduates ahead of our batch are doing so well in the US.

And our dean is fantastic, admired by other deans for being so hardworking and efficient.

I hope that I have enlightened you :-)

with all due respect, i didn't mean to generalize all the students.. as i've said it all depends on the student's interest and efforts to be able to get high grades and pass with flying colors.. i just sited the experience i had with some of the students before.. i was also told by a friend who has a friend currently studying there that when her friend tried to have her grades evaluated in other schools, they said that her 1.0 grade is only equivalent to a 3.0 in other schools.. how they were able to gauge that is beyond my knowledge.. i was just curious why the student from lanting was able to give that comment about her own grades.. she is actually encouraging my classmate to transfer to lanting since she said that she doesn't have a hard time getting high grades even if she doesn't really study hard.. i just told my classmate if that's the case then she's better off where she is right now and just strive harder to pass all her subjects.. i am also impartial to the appearance of the school or the facilites of the school if it's airconditioned or not.. what am just trying to point out is the testimonies of the students in that particular school... regards!!!
