any good hospital that you can suggest here in manila?

hi everyone! i'm currently on a dilemma on choosing what hospital to work with..or do i have to consider having training first at Philippine Heart Center, Lung Center of the Philippines and the likes. I passed applications in Capitol Medical Center, Cardinal Santos Medical Center and Manila East Medical Center in Taytay Rizal. I'm presently living in Pasig. Any comments or suggestions will be of great help. Thanks guys.

philippine heart center is a good hospital to get your training and experience from. they offer lots of trainings for staff nurses, which will be very useful if you plan to work in the states. however, you have to be very prepared to face a lot of these trainings as sometimes they really get exhausting since you will be having training and will still be having your normal 12 hour shifts not to mention the additional hours you have to give your ward for extended endorsements, inventories etc.
for non-staff nurses, trainings are still offered but you will have to pay for it.

i actually applied for staff Nurse in PHC. I already had my clinical and psychological exams, and fortunate enough, i was one of the first priorities. However, that was already 6mos ago. And still, i am waiting for panel interview. If you're willing to wait that long, pursue Phil. heart ctr.
Good luck!

Will it really take that long to wait for a panel interview? Because I'll be taking the tests this coming april. I just hope and pray that I will be taken into consideration right away. At least within the next 3 months...

thanks for all the respondents! i really appreciate your posts here..anyway, i'm still looking for other ways to find a job. Actually, i'm on the point of taking a voluntary experience. I'm quite disappointed with the PHC because i'm on the process of passing my application to the HR then told me that they were not yet accepting new applicants. Why?..it's because of the election ban going on.oh well..

Yeah, you're right..Well I guess it's the volume of nurses nowadays. Imagine 19,000 plus new RNs ( I belong to Dec06), the interns, the underboard volunteers, all crowding Manila hospitals. And not to mention AGE as qualifying factor (bad news to second coursers) . I had my share of elbowing(so to speak) my way to the HRs. All the same remarks.. we will call you for an exam after evaluation of your papers. Yeah right.. Most US Sponsors are asking for at least 6 months experience. Good thing Im still waiting for my ATT. No luck yet..ANYONE HAS TIPS ON HOW TO GAIN ENTRY LEVEL HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES??? Even volunteer job isnt eazy to get nowadays., How about trainings with pay, as long as we get a cert, anybody??

hi - i'm also new in this career and currently filtering my hospital preferences. PHC is on my list but the waiting period is so looong i wonder if it's worthwhile to wait. i mean, does it really matter where hospital you came from if you apply for a job in other countries? from the things i've been reading, the only thing that counts is the amount of experience you've had on a particular area, like medsurg, pedia. even getting a high grade doesn't get you far... any thoughts on this? i'm tempted to lower my hospital standards and just GET A JOB AND GET THE NECESSARY EXPERIENCE. whaddya say, y'all?

hi...if you're looking for a hospital which offers trainings, you might want to check with PGH...i enrolled with their CNEP last year and paid P5K for 4months training, they will give you a cert afterwards

good luck on your ATT...it takes a while for you to receive it, but if it's taking you too long, you might want to follow it up with your board of nsg

wishing us all the best

God bless

first of all you have to have some criteria for choosing the hospital you want to work at. like the basic salary, benefits, contracts, should it be a tertiary hosp or a community hosp, etc. from there get a list of hospitals and submit your resume to as many hospitals as you can so you'll have more chances of getting employed. i believe PHC is a very good hosp but the wait is too long. try to consider other hospitals too. goodluck!
