V Luna General Hospital (VLGH) is under the Armed Forces of the Philippines Medical Center (AFPMC)...VLGH is located @ V Luna Road, Quezon City. If you'll be taking the LRT2 route, it's nearest to Anonas Station while on MRT it's near GMA-Kamuning then another jeepney ride to each way...don't complain yet...if you really want it...its worth the sacrifice! As for me, I live in Tondo and it's almost 1 1/2 hr travelling time and I have lots of co-RN Residents near Tondo as well...

Yes it requires wearing COMPLETE duty uniform. For girls you could use your school uniform, you can't wear pants except during weekends or holidays but still it depends on your head nurse and you'll be wearing your nursing cap except if you'll be assigned in special areas where you could use your scrub suits.

This is a military-training hospital..just imagine following your school's regulations regarding you're ideal appearance, punctuality and attitude in a strict manner. I mean it..proper hair cut for boys, clean "white" shoes, name plates, ID's...it may sound difficult but after some time you'll get used to it. I even find myself re-painting my shoes with white Kiwi before going to duty as a volunteer nurse in a public hospital...too bad there's nobody to appreciate it..hehe!

Go try it karmela! there's nothing to lose and so much to gain with the program..

applying as military nurse is another option to consider, but it's more difficult applying this time...i myself have a pending application, 'm waiting for the interview. 'nyweiz if you're interested you may proceed to camp aguinaldo-bulwagang valdez...bring your credentials and be in the proper attire...prepare for the exam, they have a shorter exam for those with 80 and above board rating...

Hi fellow Nurses. I took my RN Residency in AFP Aug 2008~ March 2009. Didactics is 1 month, after that I was assigned on a specialty area which is GU ward and was lucky enough to stay at one of my Top choices which is OR for 5 months. They do not accept residents in OR anymore though.
There are 2 batches of this program. If you want to apply, try signing up on May (for August) and Oct (Feb). Sceening process has 2 stages Qualifying exam, so brush up with your computations. If you have a backer and did not pass the exam, you will be given a second chance to take the same exam but be sure to pass it the 2nd time. Results will be posted on the bulletin board. If you pass, you will be given a schedule for your panel interview. Panel interview is with the special areas head nurses, this is their chance to hand pick the ones they want to be assigned in their areas. Those who will not get picked will be placed on rotations to different wards. The top 3 areas you chose in the beginning will only serve as guide for them to know what you want but it is not a guarantee you will get it. Be prepared to answer questions related to your area of choice, if you choose ER then brush up in Prioritization.
Didactics is 1 month, my advise is to brush up on procedures because at the end of the didactics you will have to do return demo and this is your ticket in passing so you could move on to the areas.
You could train for your IV therapy while waiting or you can take it there in AFP so it would not be hard for you to complete your cases.
Training there was great, it does not compare when we were in RLE. Here you will feel that you are truly a staff in the hospital. A piece of advice, never wait to be asked, have the initiative to learn their SOPs. Always look for something to do, they do not like residents who are just sitting in the station and watching tv. If you are done with your charting, preparing of meds, do your individual rounds, talk to the patients. Oh one more thing, always addressed co-workers, patients and even your co-residents as “Sir” or “Ma’am”.
At the end of your training, you will be grouped and each group will do a case presentation. Choose a very good topic and assist your patient personally since you will have to defend your management.
We were 88 residents who started in August but only 60 graduated.

They do not have physical requirements nor board rating requirements. If you are applying for Nurse-corps then applications are done through GHQ. Board rating should be 80% above, height of 5’2 or 5’3 for girls (not so sure) must be single, they also have weight requirement, good eye vision and age should be below 23 y/o. Hope this helps.
