UPMC Mercy School of Nursing -Class of '15

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hi AllNurses community! I have been searching for a thread for the UPMC Mercy Hospital Class of 2015, but alas; no such luck. Therefore, I created one!

I was accepted to start in August 2013 and was looking for others who were, or are looking to be accepted. I know it's early still, but I am ready to start school and secure a study group.

Now to my question: I know Mercy has a tuition contract. Does anyone know anything about it? Is it a good deal? I know they are sending information about it, but I am interested in hearing opinions.

Thanks!

MS30 their program isn't shorter anymore its all changed very similar now to Shadyside they haven't updated anything yet but my college courses should transfer anywhere.. I have everything but AP 1&2 and Micro. St Margaret is closest for me and that is an hour drive my second choice would be Shadyside which is about 1hr 15mins.. Ughhh

Congrats Navy dude!!

Helloo

Ive read many comments! I received my PSB results and passed them all :))) now to apply! im nervous of what i've heard about someone failing a&p 1 but passing it the second time with a C... will they decline you b/c of that failing! ??? how long does it usually take to get results back from St Margaret?? I will be starting sep 2013 :))))

Congrats Navy dude!!

Thank you vebb

Congrats Navydude! So are you gonna go to Carlow? Or are you going to wait and see what Mercy says?

yes, Im going to go to Carlow. I sent in my deposit today. I wanted to go to Mercy so that I can get more clinical hours and finish sooner. Carlow has a good nursing program though. i will just be in school a lot longer.

navydude... I was accepted to Carlow last year, paid my deposit and everthing. But then I found out I got into Mercy and I decided to go with Mercy.

Last year Carlow only was only provisionally accredited, basicly they were on probation for low NCLEX pass rates. I'm not sure if this was fixed since last year though... thought I would throw that out there.

I called and asked about the provisionary status. I was told that the curriculum has changed and NCLEX pass rates have gone up.

I got a letter of acceptance from Shadyside today yipppeee!!!

I just got my acceptance letter to mercy a few weeks ago! I accepted and mailed my deposit. Can't wait to sit down and talk about what credits will transfer. Has anyone done so already? I have taken a&p 1 and 2, micro, human growth and development, etc. I'm hoping all my credits will transfer and all I'll have left to take are the nursing courses. Does anyone know if you can graduate earlier than 21 months?

@rae2181, I took Mercy's PSB exam on February 7th as well. It was so hard! I am still waiting for my results, let's just hope the best for both of us.
