UPMC Mercy School of Nursing -Class of '15

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Hi AllNurses community! I have been searching for a thread for the UPMC Mercy Hospital Class of 2015, but alas; no such luck. Therefore, I created one!

I was accepted to start in August 2013 and was looking for others who were, or are looking to be accepted. I know it's early still, but I am ready to start school and secure a study group.

Now to my question: I know Mercy has a tuition contract. Does anyone know anything about it? Is it a good deal? I know they are sending information about it, but I am interested in hearing opinions.

Thanks!

OK! I turned my application in today! She said a decision is usually made within 7-10 days, so let the waiting game begin!!! I'm so excited! And even if I don't get in this time, its ok because there's always Spring '14 :-) that's what I keep telling myself anyways lol.Navydude, I applied to ALL of the schools (lol). Mercy 1st, Shadyside 2nd, and the St.Margaret campus 3rd & 4th.....SOMEBODY'S gotta accept me!! Hahaha

I did the same.. I also applied to Citizens in New Ken I don't take their entrance exam until the end of the month hopefully I don't have to.

Ok just took the test today! It was intense! I hope i passed.. I did not finish any portion. ?

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you rae!

Took the test yesterday. Finished all but the first section. The spelling was rough though. Hopefully I did well!

Hey guys! I was checking out some threads and this one caught my eye. I am also applying for Fall '13 start. I just haven't really decided which school I want to be my first choice. Shadyside or Mercy. Why did you guys choose one over the other? Noeladd- I also took the test last Friday at Shadyside, what did you think?

Thanks naturalgirl! Hope I do well! I want to go to mercy.. If I pass the test I may apply to all schools I can. If bad score... I am planning to take all pre req (if I don't pass) and applying to sewickley...

Rae, if u didn't do we'll...don't sweat it. Just take it again in 60 days! Lol.

I had a first choice dilemma as well. Shadyside is DEFINITELY closer for me, but I felt a sense of coldness there. Mercy just felt like a more supportive environment. Idk...call me crazy but I tend to follow my intuition lol.

Well its been two weeks and nothing so I called St Margaret today and now they aren't reviewing my or supposedly any applications until March 1st.. sounds fishy to me! Espically when I was told mine was up for review just a few days after I sent it in. I'm suprised you say that naturalgirl I got ahold of ****** at Shadyside and she was very helpful.. I may have just called on a good day! St Margaret is my first choice but now I'm not so sure I have a feeling that something is off. Shadyside said I'd hear something in two weeks so we'll see how that holds up! This waiting game is awful..

Mercy told me the apps were reviewed when they received them and I should hear something back in 7-10 days. Well...today is day 9! SERIOUSLY?? And I hand delivered my app! Lol...I'm so anxious though. If my letter isn't in the mail today, I'm gonna call to check on the status. About St.Mags....I heard their program was changing to be more like the other upmc nursing schools. Maybe that's the cause for delay? Idk...just trying to give them the benefit of the doubt lol.

I also applied to mercy, but I have not heard anything back yet. i applied to Carlow University around the same time and received an email today saying that I was accepted.

@vebb. If you don't mind me asking, why st. Margaret's? I know there program is shorter but from my understanding they only teach the nursing portions there. In that case, would going to shadyside/mercy mean you would have to take those all over again? Or are they transferable since they are college courses.
