Temple's New to Practice Program

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hi. I applied for Temple's New to Practice Program a few weeks ago and just received word that my initial application was accepted. In the FAQ's, it says that applicants will have to take competency exams after they are selected. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this program and if these competencies are just basically things we learned in nursing school.

Also, if anyone has completed this program, how is it? Temple is one of my dream hospitals to work for so I'm very excited and curious about this program.

Thanks so much!

The waiting and hoping to hear from them is driving me nuts. I just liked to know either way, this way I can just move on in my thinking of where I'll be working.

Val really? they will send an email if NOT interested as well?

Yeah. Its in an email the recruiter sent me about a month ago. I dont know if anything has changed but i doubt it did.

That seems weird that they would waste your time with a test if they were not interested in you. I didn't hear from them and hope I'm still in the running but I hope other people find a job they are happy with also. I think it's going to be hard if I don't get an interview, I guess when you start your job search you picture yourself in a hospital in a specific location. I guess I dreamed about giving back to the community I once lived in. Good luck everyone and hopefully some good emails and interviews start happening.

After reading the post that someone heard from HR, I called the Temple HR office to verify if they had indeed picked the candidates for the program. Luckily for me and others, I am happy to tell you that they have NOT yet picked the candidates for the program. So, we are still in the running!!

...Anybody else hear anything?

no nothing

Ok I feel a little better if no one else has gotten anything yet

I just called HR, too. The representative I spoke with was pretty short with me. I asked if they had already started interviews and she said "No, they didn't." I then asked if they were still going through applications and she just said "Yeah."

So, I guess that is somewhat reassuring. But it seems crazy it is taking so long and also to hear that some people have already received the email about the test. I don't really know what to think but all I can do is to keep on keepin' on.

I also applied to this program. I still didn't hear back. I called the week before Thanksgiving and was told they are still going the applications...Could someone give more details on the pharmacology test. I suck at pharm. My first degree was from Temple, so I was hoping that would give me a lil edge.

Did you hear back from temple yet?

they send an e-mail if they aren't interested in you. if you haven't received that e-mail, you may still have a shot.

hey everyone. The receptionist called me Friday and booked me for an interview on Tuesday, December 4th. However, I have no idea what building/floor the interview is on. In order for me to receive the specifics, I had to send my transcripts and references. Hopefully, I will receive confirmation Monday! Im very excited but also nervous as this is my first official interview. Any tips or advice?? Any particular questions I should focus my efforts on?? Oh and by the way, if you have not heard back yet, do not fret. From what I understand (although I do not know the specifics), Temple does the interviewing process in different cohorts/waves.
