Temple's New to Practice Program

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hi. I applied for Temple's New to Practice Program a few weeks ago and just received word that my initial application was accepted. In the FAQ's, it says that applicants will have to take competency exams after they are selected. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this program and if these competencies are just basically things we learned in nursing school.

Also, if anyone has completed this program, how is it? Temple is one of my dream hospitals to work for so I'm very excited and curious about this program.

Thanks so much!

Missy32 I did have prior experience working as a LPN for two years before getting my RN license. I never did clinical at Temple unfortunately. I did include on my resume that I made the Deans's list twice though. No need to apologize anything I can share to help out a fellow nurse

Thats great. Congrats! I couldn't agree more. I picked the ICU & ER for my choices. What floor did you pick? Thanks for telling me the correct date.

Thanks for getting back to me on my questions RN83, I only have a little experience as a CNA. Good luck at Temple

My pleasure missy32. Some experience in healthcare is better than none. Your experience as a CNA will be valued compared to somone with no experience. Thank you.

I just got to find the right place that is going to value it

I chose the trauma ortho unit. From what i've heard so far, temple usually gives you your first choice.

Val212 great pick. That's awesome that Temple gives you your first pick. I can't wait to start.

Missy32. I couldn't agree with you more.

Hi All,

I received an email last week stating that they are in the review and assessment phase of the application process. Shortly after they sent me a link to take 2 exams. I received that on a thursday I took the exams that saturday. That following thursday they replied by email that they would like an interview. I went to the interview monday the 17th. It was a panel interview consisting of 3 people. When I was speaking with the woman in HR she informed me that they had an overwhelming amount of applicants and for this cohort they only seemed to look at referral applications. I did not even know that I had been referred by someone but apparently I had. I felt that the interview went well and the main nurse manager said I did extremely well on the exams (I hope that works in my favor in choosing an applicant) Anyway, at the end of the interview she told me not to worry if I didn't hear back in a week. With the holiday approaching I feel like I wont hear back until after the holiday (quite stressful). I was wondering if anyone else who had an interview in nov/dec was a referral? I really hope they call back with a YES! Best of luck to everyone!

Hi kda. I was also a referral

Hi kda. I was a referral as well.

I applied to the new 2 practice program. They called and I tested and interviewed. Does that mean I got the job and just have to wait? Do they tell you whether or not you got the job after an interview?
