Reading Hospital School of Nursing Acceptance

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Good morning,

I have submitted all my pre acceptance items to the RHSN (for the Fall of 2015 evening/weekend program) and was curious how long it usually takes to hear if I will be able to take the TEAs test or not? I am also nervous that one or two of my transcripts may be submitted after the deadline of Feb 1st; has anyone been accepted after submitting their information late? Thank you for any information you can provide!

Good day, xMrsLee:

While I ended up going to a different nursing school, when I first applied with RHS, they were very prompt through the TEAS, then fell of the face of the earth. I do recommend calling them to ask for your status. Also, in so far as I know they are still a diploma program (which is fine for being able to take the NCLEX if you graduate); and since more and more hospitals are pushing BSN's, it will take you longer to get your BSN than if you went to Reading Area Community College (which would put you around 1 year ahead of a diploma program).

Thank you.

I'm wondering the same thing! I got everything in on time, including my transcript from Penn State. I just received a letter yesterday stating that they need my official transcript sent from penn state. I'm hoping it doesn't push back my application for the fall 2016 class!

Thank you! I haven't ruled out RACC's program but at this point Reading Hospital's hours work best for me because I need to continuing working at my current while going to school but luckily I have my bachelors in business from Alvernia so I would not have to retake any gen-ed glasses to get my BSN.

I received a letter also saying they didn't have two of my transcripts and my essay which I had sent. I resent my essay and was told there was still mail the secretary had to go through. Let me know if you hear anything?

Good day, MrsLee:

The BSN isn't about gen-ed classes in so far as classes specific to nursing. RACC (or any community college) would still be approximately 1 year ahead of a diploma program.

Thank you.

Hey everyone!

I also applied to RHSHS. I had all of my pre-acceptance requirements in before the end of December and took my TEAS on January 13th. I received my acceptance letter last week for the Day Program starting August 2015!! :D

I have been at RACC for four semesters working on my pre-requsites and do NOT recommend their Nursing program. :no:While I did not start clinical there, I have talked to those who have and they had horrible experiences. Even professors have told me to go elsewhere. I am sure it is not all bad but I am not chancing it.

I have a friend who had a problem with her transcripts getting to RHSHS as well and then when she went to register for the TEAS it was sold out. She had to wait another 3 weeks for the next date. I highly recommend if you have any question to contact Melanie in Admissions. She is super friendly and even told me the date that the board was meeting to review my app so I wasn't stalking the mailman for a month!

Let me know if you have any questions! Hopefully I will be seeing all of you in the fall! Best of Luck!!

Thank you so much! I just took my TEAS this past Saturday and I am anxious to find out if I got in. Do you know if there is a minimum TEAS score that RHSHS has for their program?

I've heard mixed reviews about RACC's program, but I have to work full-time so RHSHS program fits better with my schedule. Fingers crossed that I get in!

Thank you for sharing about RACC. Since my wife and I live halfway in between RACC and HACC, I picked HACC (for which I'm the start of their RN program). I do know RHS has a good reputation for their diploma-based RN program.

I heard benchmark was a 70.7% which is exactly what I scored but I have a friend who scored a 60% and was also accepted. They look at the whole package. I have a 3.8 gpa at RACC as well as some volunteer experience and quite a few recommendation letters.

If you don't mind my asking, how did you do? I know some people who also took there test on Saturday. It is SO nerve wracking. I believe they said the board would be reviewing for your teas date the first Monday in March so you should know by the 10th. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!! Keep us posted!

Thanks for all the information, you are awesome! I got a 75.3% on the TEAs and my GPA's are 3.88 and a 3.4 (I previously went to two different colleges). I also have some volunteer experience and submitted an extra recommendation letter so hopefully I get in.

The TEAs were nerve-wracking because I had no idea what to expect. I tried to study, but I only registered for the test a few days in advance so I didn't have much time. I emailed the school yesterday and you're right they will be meeting March 2nd. I will keep you updated if I get in. The waiting part is so hard!
