Is it possible to get a job at CHOP?

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

I really want to work at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. I work nearby and I love the area. I'm not a nurse but I'm studying to be a nurse and I want to start at CHOP to get my foot in the door. Every nurse that I know that works at CHOP appears to be happy. It seems so hard to GET IN. Is it possible to work at CHOP?

I submitted my online resume/application to CHOP 2 weeks ago and was contacted by a nurse recruiter within days....after a lot of phone tag we finally got each other on the phone and I had a mini-interview just yesterday. She is forwarding my resume to 2 units of my choice and told me I should her back within a week......keep your fingers crossed for me!!

but long story short, it seems like it is possible!

This exact scenario happened to me. I didn't hear back within the week, so I am going to call them myself tomorrow. Keeping everything crossed! lol

Let me know how it goes when you call....what units did you choose?

Well, I tried calling and not getting an answer, so I'm emailing and leaving messages! She said she'd pass on my info to CICU. What about you?

I'm applying to CHOP as well, and I heard back from the recruiter last week. Apparently it's hard to get in touch with them, though, as I've found and many of you have mentioned. I'd be curious to hear more about everyone's progress! Good luck!

It is possible to get in touch with them; actually much easier than some of the other hospitals I've applied to! Good luck to everyone who is applying. I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for all of us!

do you know if they have any part time positions open at CHOP right now?

I just heard back from the nurse recruiter today, and she's forwarding my resume to the nurse manager to see if I can get an interview... (!!!) :monkeydance: I should hear back within a week...

Does anyone have advice on the CHOP interview? I would truly appreciate some feedback... Thanks in advance! :D

P.S. -- I believe they do have some part-time positions posted on their website (http://www.chop.edu)

hi all

they use behavioral type interviewing (i think that style of questioning is popular in healthcare...my previous job used the same approach)...there are various websites that have sample questions / examples of behavioral type interviewing with pointers on how to answer these type of questions

goodluck! =)

I know someone who has been trying to get in well over 5yrs...TOUGH AS NAILS!!!

I think it is because the nurse recruiters they use are not friendly.

I would have to disagree with you on that one...my nurse recruiter was professional, timely, pleasant and very amicable. Actually, I have found this attitude and professionalism extends to their workforce as well.
