Right now the job situation is not good for new graduates in this area as hospitals and healthcare employers have cut back on entry level positions and hiring freeze everywhere. When you see an ad for LPN with 1 year experience, they mean having worked as LPN for a year. CNA work, although rewarding, does not count. There are scant entry level positions in 5 county Philly area, northern DE and NJ.

Ok just stumbled on you post. If I were you I would stay away from PIT. The do not have a good NCLEX-PN pass rate. Also the tuition is very expensive. Dont fall into its marketing trap where it shows how the school is affiliated with . You should check out Eastern Center for Arts and Technology their program is $11,000 with a success rate 90.59% compared to PIT tuition of $19,000 with a success rate 81%. You can check it out for yourself http://www.dos.state.pa.us/bpoa/lib/bpoa/20/nurs_board/nclex_performance-pn.pdf. I will be going to Eastern in Feb 2010. Their next full time class is Sep 2010 and they offer part time classes as well in Apr and Nov. Check website www.eastech.org
