Penn State Residency: Hershey Medical Center 2015

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Hey Everyone,

I don't see a thread for 2015 yet, so I thought I'd start one. I'm just beginning the application process, and the clinical narrative is killing me. I precepted in trauma at a trauma center, so it was get them in, get them out: usually to a rehab. I can't think of how I might have changed their lives or had a big impact. I was able to attain great skills and do frequent assessments: neuro, neurovascular, cardio, telemetry strips, etc. and do and see some great stuff, I wish I could write about that!

I'd like to hear from anyone applying now or who applied in the past. Any pointers?

Nada?

I just finished my application. Hoping to get into pediatrics, preferably oncology. Graduating with my ADN this December and starting BSN classes this September. I have no pediatric experience but from previous life experiences I know it's what I'm meant to do. I'm an extern on an ICCU floor so I'm hoping that will help me get this position. Willing to move all the way from Wisconsin for this!!

I am stuck writing in narratives as well. During the clincal part of my ADN I always worked med surge and peds and psyc. So I can't say , oh I save this pt life or so lol they were all stable pt and med adm and daily care.

The place I'm doing my BSN will accept you as "provisional status" and let you take BSN classes along with your ADN course work. I am a hospice LPN in addition to working at the hospital so I wrote about my first hospice pt and my experience with him and his family.

How many page it should be ? My nurse friend advice me to Write at least two Page but I am thinking one page would be fine since they would Read a lot of people papers.

I would say 1-2 pages. Not too long and not too short

So we will focus only specific patient right when we write the paper ?

Hi everybody! I'm glad to speak to fellow applicants.

I wrote my narrative. I tried to make it patient- and family-centric while still showcasing the nursing process. I'm hoping they know we're new grads and won't have had too many incredible experiences yet.

I'm glad to see there's a thread up here for 2015 too! I submitted the whole application now I'm basically just praying to get an interview. Anyone hear anything or know when they start contacting candidates?

I received an e-mail asking me to complete the questionnaire. I don't know what this is, and I don't see it on the website. Am I missing something? I wrote an e-mail back, but haven't received directions on how to proceed.

Thanks to anyone who can help.
