LaSalle Achieve PT Fall 2012

    Hello,

I went through other posts about this program, but couldn't find the answer to my question: how long after applying does it take to receive an admissions decision?

I was told that they could make a general University acceptance after they received my transcripts, clearances, and NLN scores. I was only waiting on my NLN scores, and they finally got them last week. Now, how long does it take to hear if I've gotten into the University?

I'm taking my last two prerequisites this semester. When do they usually send out letters of acceptance into the nursing school?

Thanks and good luck to everyone.

    Hi,
I took the NLN exam on Oct 28 and my letter went out on December 2. I think they received my clearances after the took the exam, but I don't remember exactly when I sent them out. But once they received everything it didn't take long to hear from them--about a month and I think it took longer because of my sending in the clearances late. A couple of days after receiving the letter, the portal was updated to "accepted student"..now I just have to send in my confirmation deposit.

I have four prereqs I'm finishing up this semester and I'll probably take my first religion over the summer.
Now as far as actual admittance into the nursing program, I'm assuming it won't be until after the deadline but it might be based on what prereqs you have left. Do you have your sciences completed or are they still in progress? It looks like they can't make a final decision until those sciences are completed.

Thanks for your response! So you were accepted into the university, but not into the school of nursing yet? What is the deposit for then?I'm currently taking A&P II and Chenistry, then my science are done. After LaSalle received all of my clearances, transcripts, etc (which was last week) my portal also changed. Now I'm able to access more and there's even a "courses" section, but I've not yet received an acceptance letter. Does this mean I may have gotten into the school? The admissions counselor told me to expect a decision within the week. I'm so anxious!

Right, I was accepted into the university for now. The letter said after my other courses were completed the admissions committee would make another decision for the program. That's strange you didn't get a letter, maybe it was lost in the mail! Does your portal say "accepted student" and ask for a confirmation deposit? Oh, the deposit is $200. I think if you aren't done your sciences then they give you a conditional acceptance and it sounds like there's an interview too. I think they're really just all over the place and since everyone has different situations that there's no consistency. A girl I go to school with last semester is actually taking classes there now but she never even took the NLN exam and her sciences weren't completed and she didn't have the required GPA at that point..of course she hasn't been admitted to the major yet either.

I found out today I also got into Widener and was offered a good transfer scholarship..so now I have to think about that too!

Hmm. No, my portal doesn't say "accepted student" anywhere or ask for the deposit. It pretty much looks like I have the same access an enrolled student would have. Maybe it's a computer glitch or someone made a mistake giving me access to this part of the site? I don't know. I'm still waiting for a letter. Did you get your conditional acceptance at the same time you got the university acceptance?

How will the commute to Widener be? I guess you have to go where the money is? Did LaSalle offer you any scholarships or loans?

It was just one letter...it was pretty vague and I spent so much time trying to interpret it before I saw the portal changed! It says "Congratulations...the Committee on Admissions has favorably considered your application to pursue prerequisites for the Achieve nursing program." And then..."Before being considered for full acceptance into the Achieve program you must complete at least 60 credits..." and "At the completion of these courses, the Admission Academic Standards Committee will make another decision regarding your full acceptance into the nursing major."

I'm up in the air about Widener...I want to go check it out. It's about 35 minutes from me, but that's comparable to the drive to La Salle because of the traffic. The advantage is even though Chester isn't a great area it has to be better than the Olney Ave. area at night. I have kids though, so I have to talk to someone there about what my schedule would be like. That's really the determining factor. Even with the scholarship it's still more money than La Salle. No scholarships from La Salle and I'm not even officially in the nursing major yet. I was actually accepted to Widener's program so there's that to consider.

Oh wow. I definitely haven't received a letter like that one. Widener is a day program, right? I would talk to them about the schedule.

I finally got the letter! It says the same as yours, I've been accepted into the university, and after this semester, they'll make a decision for the nursing program. Do you think that as long as our GPAs are 3.0 or above, we're pretty much in? What other reason could they have to reject us at this point?

Yeah!!! That's great! That's what my letter said. I think it said somewhere on the site that after the sciences are complete, that we'll be brought in for an interview, but the letter doesn't mention an interview. I really don't know what other grounds for rejection would be... I did read an old post here that once we get to this point, we're in...but I like proof! What I don't like is that they want the confirmation deposit before we're accepted to the program. Also, what if the spots get filled by people who finished their sciences already? I'd really like a final decision NOW because I'm very close to accepting Widener's offer, and the more I think about it, the harder it's going to be to work the daytime schedule. I'd really rather go to La Salle!

When I spoke to Alison, I asked her how many applications they usually get, and how many of those people they actuasly accept. She told me that they've never turned down a qualified person. So I guess if they find 100 qualified people versus the 35 I read in another post, that cohort will just have 100 people?!
