LaSalle Achieve Fall 2013

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

For years, I was reluctant to apply to LaSalle while finishing my pre-reqs at CCP. I guess I was intimidated, countless people told me to apply...but I put it off, fearing rejection. May 2012, I finally applied...studied for the NLN on-and-off the entire summer...received a high overall score on the entrance exam over 100... Sci. GPA of 3.25, Overall: 3.13. Received my "Congratulations/favorable consideration letter" from LaSalle in Sept (2012) and have been living vicariously through current students in the program now.

I have signed up for the last of my required pre-reqs at LaSalle so I can get a "feel" of their grading style and going to a large university. I know the official nursing acceptance letters won't go out until May 2013, and I shouldn't get my hopes up ...but I've worked so hard (and will continue to!) and hope that things will continue to work out favorably.

Has anyone else received their "Congratulations/favorable consideration letter"? Does that letter mean, if we continue on doing well and meet the required deadlines...that it "should" work out in our favor? Oh the anxiety...well I'll be practicing my conversions and studying.

Take away message: Don't get in your own way...and everything and anything is possible if you give it your all!

Intending Nursing, Fall 2013

My advice would look at the nclex pass rate. A friend of mine went to gmc and ended up failing a nursing class, go discouraged and switched majors.

Is GMC weekend program intense? It seems like a good school but its not much info or reviews about the program.

Hey did you hear from either school for an acceptance letter

Yes..lasalle opened a new spot for me to take the exam again by march 10..I took the exam again and I score 125 but my verbal is 48.However, they said they are reviewing my application again. I hope I get accepted and am not going to GMC have declined my acceptance. I have been accepted to ccp which is way more cheaper than gmc cos my financial aid alone will pay for it and I will still get some refund in my pocket. So if lasalle doesnt accept me then I will just go to ccp and keep my job

Oh ok that sounds good. I'm not going to gmc either too far for me. I had orientation today at harcum it was interesting. Good luck I hope you get accepted to Lasalle. I wish Jersey had better options of evening programs.

Hello

Did you hear anything from Lasalle

Yeah I heard back but I was accepted to their full time program so I just petitioned to change to achieve program but she said there is no guarantee

Wow really? Is the achieve program full already? I start Harcum on Monday I'm excited and nervous

goodluck on that so how is the schedule

i dont really care abt them at this stage, whether they accept or not am already at ccp here and it is almost the same length.

Not to sound snarky here Kayfactor, but I would care. There is a huge saturation of nurses in/around Philly right now. I finished my program in December with my BSN, and only about 1/2 of my class is employed so far, and some of them took jobs at nursing homes just to get some experience. There are very, very few places around that will hire you with your ADN. If you can get into La Salle, then I would go for it. Otherwise you'll just be going right back to school when you finish at CCP. I wish you nothing but the best of luck in your journey to become a nurse. :-) (Not being snarky here.)

Hello

How is school going. School is not going great for me I'm starting to rethink this whole nursing thing
