I was just wondering if anyone has ever taken the Pre-Hospital Registered Nurse Training Program that JeffSTAT offers in Philadelphia. And does anyone know of other programs such as this elsewhere in Pennsylvania?

Cheers,

Wondering that myself. Years ago when the program was at Hahnemann thought about the program. Am rethinking it.

Anyone out there?

GEM EMI in Allentown (Associated with Lehigh Valley Hospital) has a 6 month PHRN course. When completed, you are eligible to sit for the PHRN certification to become a Health Professional in the state of PA. You need either ER or ICU experience (1 year minimum) to apply. Hope this helps

Thanks, this is a little closer to me than Philadelphia (I'm in the Hershey-Harrisburg area). Any comments on the quality of the training, if you underwent it or know anyone who did?

I completed it and the quality is excellent. The course work is very fast paced and rigorous (As you should already know all the things covered like pathophys, systems, diseases, etc.) they really focus on the prehospital aspect of medicine and run you through practicals daily. In the practicals, you are in charge of a team and make all the decisions right or wrong. You also have to do clinical time with an ALS provider in the Allentown area where you again do everything and are in charge.

My SO got his EMT from JEFFSTAT and is in their paramedic program now. He had a great EMT teacher and is not so crazy about his paramedic teacher, but overall has had a good experience with JEFFSTAT.

I am a PHRN at Jeffstat- They may be starting another class soon for PHRNs. If one gets off the ground- I will most definitely post the details.

I heard that Harrisburg Area Community College has a PHRN program don't they? Or they had one in the past. . .

Just talked to the director of public safety at HACC. . .he said that HACC tries to do a PHRN program every two years. If interested, call and put your name on the list. They will run it as soon as they get enough people enrolled in the class.
