Jeff's Accelerated Pathway

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

Hello,

Has anyone been accepted or currently enrolled in Jefferson's Accelerated Pathway program? I would love to hear thoughts on the program. I was just accepted for Fall 2010! I'm trying to decide whether this would be the right nursing program for me. The cost is a huge factor but the MSN is really appealing. Since I already have a prior degree (with federal loan debt), does anyone know how much I could still possibly take out in Stafford loans? Thought I saw something on the discussions that said only up to $12,000. Do most people have to take out private loans?

Also, does Jeff require the purchase of an Iphone, Ipod, or Blackberry? Do they give any discounts on train/subway fare? Just trying to factor everything financial into my decision.

Couldn't seem to find too much information on this program. I know FACT is faster and cheaper but I won't be done my prereqs in time.

Are people in the program or even with FACT happy with the education they have received?

Thank you!!!

ive been accepted to APW fall 2010 as well! I have not done much research yet about the finance details, due to other reasons..I think on the link they send out that has a checklist of what to do before registration and orientation, may have facts/notes on finances and apples/dell..but not sure about specifically iphones, blackberry and ipods.

but I'm glad to hear that someone else is talking about the program. there seems to be very few discussions on this forum about this program--probably because many rather complete their BSN within 1 year (FACT program). have you visited the campus?

Congratulations on your acceptance PeaceSL!!! Is this your first choice? Do you plan on getting your MSN right away or waiting a bit?

I have been to the campus before. I know that area fairly well since I used to work near there downtown. It's a great location to be.

I will have to check out the email link for more details..just haven't had time yet. I called Financial Aid today and it looks like I will basically have to fill out the FAFSA first before I can figure out anything financially. I think it's a great program especially with the dual acceptance into the MSN. The cost is just the big killer for people like me with prior degrees and huge loan debt.

So we will see! I agree that it would be nice to hear from others. Not very much information on this forum about it.

Thanks, congrats to u too :) this is actually not my first choice, but i absolutely would love to go here. i am from the west coast and really want to try living on the east coast. it will do good to me..just living off on my own type of thing ;) however there are some other schools in southern california that i am waiting for as well...it is a big deal too because if i ever decide to move back to california after receiving my msn at TJU, i have to retake the test and make sure i have completed all of california's requirements.

I do plan to go straight through the MSN portion. During the summer, I am probably going to do some externships or something like that...to build up my resume. do you think you will be finishing it up too? or stop and work for a bit? i'm not too certain with my plan, but when im in the education mode..i dont know if putting it on pause will be a good idea, for me that is.

Like you PeaceSL, I'm not too sure on my plan yet. Ideally I would like to go straight through for the MSN but I'm not 100 percent sure yet. Maybe I'll be so exhausted after the BSN and just want a break from school or want to start earning some paychecks. I don't know.

I finally got my FAFSA done today! More forms are involved for Jeff's financial aid. Will see if I get offered any loans..lol!!

Best of luck making your decision! California is a far ways from here but the people in Philly are nice (I swear!)..I've been told we have a whole different culture of our own!!!

I know most of these threads were posted about a year ago but I just got accepted to Jeff's FACT program for 2011. How did you guys like it? Did you have anytime to work part time, say a work study? Also, for the fafsa, did you fill out that you were a 5th year undergraduate or were starting as a Junior? Thanks!

Hey I've been looking everywhere for current forums on Jefferson's APW for fall 2011. I am still waiting to hear back. When did you turn in your application or which review period was it for? I turned mine in for the Nov. 1st deadline and they said we'd hear sometime after Jan. 1st so I'm not sure if I should have heard by now or should just keep waiting.

I applied to the FACT program. The application deadline was Oct 15th? ...I think....I was told in my interview I was in the secondary review and she let me know of my acceptance before Thanksgiving. I don't know what the details are for the Accelerated pathway. Good Luck!

oh yeah I guess I didn't pay attention to the part where you said you were just accepted to the FACT program haha. Congrats and thanks for responding anyway. There seems to be a bunch of forums for FACT and none for the APW program.
