do you support the use of therapeutic marijuana?

at the recent ana house of delegates meeting, ana approved a resolution that supports the use of medical marijuana/cannabis. specifically the resolution stated that ana:

*support research on the therapeutic efficacy of marijuana/cannabis

*support right of patient to have access to therapeutic marijuana/cannabis under appropriate prescriber supervision

*support health care providers discussion or recommendation to use medicinal marijuana/cannabis

*support legislation to remove criminal penalties for bona fide patients and prescribers of therapeutic marijuana/cannabis

*support federal and state legislation to exclude marijuana/cannabis from classification as a schedule i drug

*support the education of rn's regarding current evidence-based therapeutic use of marijuana/cannabis

psna would like to hear from you so as to determine how pa nurses feel about this issue. what do you think of ana's support for therapeutic marijuana/cannabis use? should psna adopt a similar position? please share your comments with michele campbell, psna executive administrator at [email protected] or 1-888-707-7762, ext. 200.

Heck yah I would. Im sitting here with bad morning sickness that lasts all day. I think I ate a few days ago.... Any way, If marijuana would help even take a way alittle bit of nausea for the CA pts I would give it in a heartbeat!

before i went to nursing school i smoked pot. it really helped for menstral cramps(i have endomeitriosis). now i have to take prescription pain meds for it instead. but i honestly feel that marijuana worked way better for the n/v/d and intense pain then these pills do.

LEAGALIZE IT!

I think they should make tobacco illegal and make pot legal in its place.

Smoked my share back in the day and still would if I wouldn't lose my job over it.

Are there any other natural (as in grows naturally from the earth without human intervention) plants that are illegal?

For the record.. I will not, and have never, touch any man made drugs besides Dr. prescribed meds and tylenol.

The THC in Mariniol does not relieve nausea for some reason in that form. Perhaps there are other reasons why marijuana is preferred?

Mushrooms. I don't think salvia or a few other "herbs" are illegal, but they're borderline. All hallucinogenics.

I think it's ridiculous that mj is schedule 1. It's a cure all, not a danger to society. Alcohol, tobacco, sure. Pot? Nahh.

One should wonder why things are so backwards..

My dad is undergoing chemo right now. He's so nauseous and when he's not nauseous, food tastes bad to me. He finds this incredibly depressing and has been talking about whether the chemo is really worth it if his doctors are just doing it to be safe. He asked me about medical marijuana the other day, and if that will help him eat and feel better about doing chemo for STAGE 3 COLORECTAL CANCER, I think that's fantastic. There are plenty of legal drugs that are much more dangerous.
