CCAC Spring 2013 hopefuls!

Just wanted to start a thread for those who applied to CCAC for this upcoming Spring semester. What were your stats when you applied? What campus did you select? What are your nursing goals? I applied with a 3.8 GPA with Micro completed (as well as Eng Comp 1 & Psych 101). In currently taking a&P 1, Eng Comp 2 & MAT 108. I applied to Allegheny Day & I hope to become either a L&D nurse, nurse at Children's hospital or NICU nurse :)

pghgirl7 where are you going to get titers done? are you doing those before you go to your physical?

I'm going down to the health department. I'll go for my physical on either Wednesday or Friday at UPMC Urgent Care, it's $50 there.

Is the paper with all our titers on it the same paper we use for a physical? There's no height/weight or anything like that on it.

im almost positive it is the paper we use for physical. they must not care height/weight, just as long as we are able to perform the necessary tasks. and do you have the prices for the uniforms? if not, i do. i can give them to you

Owe my poor arms! Haha had titers drawn today, TB test & Hep B shot. Got my drug test & fingerprints done too! I'm on a roll!!

uniforms are from american discount uniform. we order them on the registration day but they recommend we visit a retail location (blooms field or lower burrell) and size for proper fit!

my appointment for shots is next wednesday! was it bad?!?

Thanks! I'm not sure what I'm ordering yet. Obviously 1 set & a lab coat, but I might get 2 sets of scrubs. What's the cardigan? Is that something we can wear if its cold?

Getting my blood drawn (for titers) wasn't bad. They just took 1 tube. The Hep B shot made my arm sore, but it feels a lil better today. The TB test burned when the stuff was injected, maybe the alcohol didn't dry in my skin all the way. I gotta go back Friday to have it read & get the 2nd one. Then I have to go back on 12/13 to get the 2nd Hep B shot. I just decided to get the shot because I don't know if I was ever immunized for it & I can't find my records.

I would only get one set of scrubs because for the first year you only have one day of clinical per week. Also I did not get a cardigan I just wear a long sleeve t-shirt underneath if I'm cold.

Thanks! So we are allowed to wear a long sleeve shirt under our scrubs? Any specific kind or color?

Yes our scrubs are navy blue and we can wear Blue or white
