Aria School of Nursing September 2012

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Hi all, I'm new to this site (just joined today). But I've been lurking for a few weeks. I'm applying for the Aria Health SON and would love to meet others who are applying for the September 2012 academic year.

@chuckster we're applying to the program. I read on the website that the hospital has a loan forgiveness employment oppurtunity for students that maintain a 3.5 gpa. But I was worried about finding a job until I got my BSN.

I had no clue about the loan forgiveness program! I tried to look up more information about it but wasn't able to find it, could you send me the link, I would like to read up on that?!

I currently attend BCC and I also applied to Aria in the fall. I have an associates in Science from CCC so all my pre reqs are completed. I also took the TEAS, they were based off of a 12th grade curriculum so if you can remember that far back you should be fine lol. Just kidding it was fairly easy I didn't study at all and scored Proficient but I'm thinking of retaking it to increase my chances. I would suggest using a study guide and doing a practice test but don't sweat it too much. You'll do fine. I've given up on being nervous because I know I won't get in. I didn't get into Gynedd Mercy so I figure the same will be for Aria. I've decided to just do an LPN program and work my way up.

You never know what will happen, just because one school didn't accept you, doesn't mean the next one won't. The same will apply after you graduate, you may have to apply to a few jobs before you get hired, or you may be lucky and get hired at the first place you try. The point is that your attitude matters. Try to stay positive! Hopefully things will pan out for you this time.

Thanks I will try to stay positive and in any case I have my back up plan set up so yea Im sure ill be fine. Thanks :)

@simply blessed the school must taken the loan forgiveness info off the website. I saw it when I applied in August. If a student maintained a 3.5 gpa and work for at least one year at aria u would be eligible for loan forgivness. I can't remember the amount.

@ awarren, thanks for looking. I thought I must have been overlooking it. Hopefully they are still running the program. I'm surprised at the one year commitment, Underwood Memorial Hospital in South Jersey used to do a similar program but you were required to stay with them for two years. It just shows how much times have changed, my friends mom went to work there as a new grad like 3 years ago and they even had a $5,000 bonus for that two year commitment! But unfortunately they are not doing it anymore at the moment.

@simplyblessed I know some the other students were talkng about Aria eventually becoming a BSN program and phasing out the diploma option. Did you hear anything about when? Also, I was hoping for the loan forgiveness program too. For the experience!

Hello present and future Aria nursing students! :nurse:

I absolutely love this site and I have been following up with Aria threads that have helped me make my decision to attend this amazing school. I will be starting in September 2012 and can't wait to talk to more students who will be in class with me!

I was torn between BSN accelerated programs and the program at Aria. I know the Aria program will better suit me and the amount if clinical hours is much more compared to the BSN programs. I just know it will be rough coming out with just a diploma as opposed to BSN, but hopefully things will make a bit of a turnaround when we finish.

@philliesgirl the clinical hours and nclex pass rate made the decision for me....at least it won't take that long to get the bsn from psu. I also saw last night that jefferson has a dual program for rn's to get their bsn & msn in 27 months.Hmmmmmm...decision decision!

Awarren, are you starting in September? I think I will just continue and get my BSN from PSU after Aria. I hope it won't take too long! :uhoh21:

Yes. I was accepted for January but was delayed until Sepember.

@ Awarren, I'm really not quite sure about when it will be an official BSN program. From what Julie told me, they are waiting for Penn State to officially put their stamp on it, so I wonder how that will be? Maybe we'll learn a bit more at orientation?

Awarren,

That's great that we will be future classmates :) I can't wait to get started...but theres SO much to do before we even begin lol
