2014 CCP Nursing Program

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

I figured I would start this topic to lower my anxiety just a little. I took the health allied test today and I have to wait till next week to get my scores. I really feel like im on pins and needles right now and I know I'll be a nervous wreck when I actually wait for my acceptance. Before I even got started on my journey to be a nurse I came across this website and It really answered a lot of questions about the application process, and was insightful in other areas of nursing that enabled me to think of more questions for answering. what I really love the most was that in previous years ccp applicants supported each other during the nerve wrecking waiting period on getting accepted. that support was so tremendous that a lot of the applicants bonded and became friends. Is there anyone else that has applied for the 2014 CCP program?

Hi!

I did not apply for the nursing CCP program - sorry! But I did want to applaud you on going to school for nursing! We need more muscle in nursing!

Good luck in your journey. Nursing is hard (says the newbie- finished in august 2013) but rewarding.

Hi,

I am applying for the 2014 Nursing Program. I actually take my Allied Health Test on December 17th. I am really excited to be embarking on this journey. I am not really stressed about the test just a little anxious to get everything over with and find out if I am actually accepted. I will definitely keep checking back for others that have applied as well. I also enjoyed reading previous post in reference to the program.

Well I'm back with the first good news for this thread. I got my score back for the Allied Health Test today and I'm overwhelmed with happiness. I really can't remember ever being this happy in my life. I got a 19. that score might be low for some people but i spoke to people that didn't pass at all last year and had to retake it this year. I honesty don't care about the test itself I'm happy to have 8 points!!!!! if you familiar with the points system they accept 9's and 8's and maybe 7's so my counselor ensured me that i have a 99% chance of getting in the program unless something drastic happens in my fall semester. on a side note I've realized that inspiration can be found in the oddest places so in my attempt to reach out to those people that feels like how I felt, I share this with you. When i started in spring 2013 I had so much self doubt and to be honest i still do, but my confidence is building up every semester. anyway what i lacked in confidence i made up by being aggressive. the counselors at BG-07 are sick of me. the first few times I visited that office im certain that they didn't take me serious, mostly because they way I look and having no grades to judge me on. And im sure they get a lot of students that say they want to be nurses and don't do what they need to do to succeed. but that fact that they were shooing me away, like i was just wasting there time, really hurt me. but boy does it feel great being in my third semester with all A's and a 4.0 GPA. finally being talked to with respect. anyway don't get info from just one person, don't feel guilty to tell a person that's giving you information, if you could speak with someone else. it's your future. oh yeah thanks for your comment sunshyne. Off to go celebrate.

Congratulations!!! You should get in as the counselor indicated to us at our information session they take 9s and 8s. She also stated that she had been doing this for over 20 years and most 7s were admitted as well. This test is my last hurdle I can't wait to get it over with. You are so right about perseverance because that is exactly what it takes. Your motivation and determination will carry you through this process and it will be worth it in the end. I previously was not considering CCP but I was going to complete my prereqs and just complete the ACHIEVE program with LaSalle. However I was blessed that my employer is flexible with whatever time is needed for clinicals etc. and thus I decided I hell I will apply for CCP nursing. I am blessed to have already completed most of the non-nursing courses. I just have micro in the spring and AP2 in the summer so if I get in I will only have the nursing courses to complete. I am overjoyed about that because I am sure those classes will be enough since I will still be working. I have been working full time and going to school full time and without perseverance I don't know if I would have made it but yet here I am. I am very happy for you. Hopefully I will be celebrating with you soon!!

yeah I'm soooooo happy. I can't contain myself. I've been telling everybody, and I am not even in yet. for some reason this day came sooner than I thought it would, if that makes any sense. That is so good that you'll have only the nursing courses. I wish I was that ahead I'm probably 2 classes behind I'm taking Eng 102 and AP1 in the spring but I still have Diet111 and Soc101 not to mention AP2 and Micro. I'm only taking 2 classes because im also doing the CNA program and I am so scared of AP1 I've heard horror stories from so many people. is it as hard as people say? do you know a good teacher I could take? oh the Aht isn't bad at all, the time is what kills you. it's a different kind of test I have ever took because you don't have the time to double check or second guess. Good luck!!!

Hi! I want to comment on this thread to my future classmates. I applied at the end of Oct. and a week later I received my AH Test Schedule. I took the test and barely made it. I believe... two weeks later, Dec 4, I checked my major and it changed to Nursing! I was so excited and was shocked at how fast it was. Then, 3 days later I received a letter of my acceptance and a $50 deposit to save my seat. They will ask you to pay it within three weeks to save your spot. I hope all of you get in! Good Luck!! Can't wait to meet my fellow classmates!! Fighting!!

Congrats Aleia!!!!! wow it's so great you don't have to go thru the waiting period other people are going thru. I guess it's the new priority seating thing they are doing this year. will all your pre-reqs be finished by this semester? or are you all done. I took bio106 in the fall and i'm guessing I wont be accepted till my grades get in.

Congratulations Aleia!! At least the waiting is over because that seems to be the most stressful part of this process.

Thank you guys! I took all the classes that I need. Next Spring semester I will only take Micro and Developmental Psych. They aaid if you want to continue your studies for BSN, it is recommended to take this course. Next Fall I will be only taking the Nurses classes. I fully recommend to take all the classes so thar you will only take nursing classes since they are all 7 credits. That is like two subjects combined!

I agree Aleia. I am taking miro in the Spring and AP2 in the summer then I will have completed all of the other required courses for the program. I completed developmental psych spring 2013. Since I am planning on acquiring a BSN I looked at several programs to make sure I took classes that would satisfy their requirements. I decided to do this since the classes are less expensive at CCP anyway. So this way I have satisfied requirements for multiple programs when I am looking to apply for BSN programs. I am so relieved that if I get in the program I will only have the Nursing courses to worry about this helps to lower my stress level a little bit.

I made it to th program guys! I just paid the $50 deposit fee. Who else made it ?
