Volunteering advice for Childrens Hospital

I am trying to volunteer at children's medical center, they only have 80 spots and about 200 people trying to interview for the spots. My ? Is how to impress the managers/ employees for the volunteer services. My dream is to become a Peds Nurse and volunteering is a great way to get to know connections and also start learning what pediatrics is all about plus I get to meet great kids :). I really want this I'm just not carton how to " wow" the volunteer managers.

Are you already in nursing school? :)

I would go in there with your passion for children at the forefront. Maybe throw around words like HIPAA. Just be yourself! Volunteers do so much more than just "play" with our kids. They are VERY important in the pediatric world - from the rockers of motherless babies to the ones who just sit and play xbox with the teens who have no family present. They can make a scary place feel much less daunting.

Good luck!

Yes I am I start my nursing classes in February and have been a CNA for 2 years, thank you for the advice !

I hope you got the job. I love pediatrics. There is a great need for people who have compassion for children who are hurting and in pain
