policy for exchange transfusion


I am looking for a policy on partial and whole exchange blood transfusions to be used on pediatric patients. Thanks.

I don't know if we peds people will be of much help. I've been doing peds for my whole career and have only ever seen one exchange transfusion. It was on a teenager with sickle cell crisis and the hematologist and her NP did everything. All our nurse did was document. Maybe we could cross-post to the NICU forum too? Although they may not be seeing too many any more either since we're managing RH incompatibility so much better.
