Pedi Med/Surg floor questions from PediED

Hi!

I am a new grad in a pediatric ED and I have been reading many threads on this board. I've read about issues between the ED and the ICU/General Med/Surg floors with transfers/giving reports and such. Since I am new, I want to help and learn as much as I can so that I can be part of the solution.

My question is this... What advice do you as Pedi Med/Surg floor nurse have for a new Pedi ED nurse that will help me both with better patient care/transfers as well as establishing a better relationship with the floors. Please, this is not a bash thread, and I ask for professional and RESPECTFUL responses.

Thanks in advance for your responses!
