Need More Information about Pediatric Nursing Please

by Hozgur

I am considering a career change and am interested in becoming a pediatric nurse practitioner. If someone can provide me with more information about their responsibilities I would really appreciate it. I'm looking for a specialty that would allow me to provide mental and/or physical care whether it be for routine check-ups to caring for a child who is about to go into surgery or just had one done. Thank you for your help!

In order to be a PNP, the programs I have looked at require one year minimum of RN experience in pediatrics. After getting your experience, you could get your PNP in 2-3 years. A PNP can work in the inpatient or outpatient setting as a primary care provider, diagnosising patients, ordering meds/labs, assessing pts, and so much more. I am hoping to start ACPNP school next fall.
