Does working in the nursery open door to peds

I am a new grad who is very intrested in becoming a peds nurse. I was offered a position on a med surg flr or nursery. I was leaning towards taking the nursery position in hopes of it opening doors to pediatrics. Am I correct in my assumption that the nursery position can one day lead to pediatrics or is it best to take the med-surg position.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If kids is what you ultimately want to do... take the Nursery position. They might even cross train you for Peds or NICU. Plus... you won't have to deal with adults! YUCK!

No doubt. I couldn't imagine working with adults! Definitely go for nursery, You will learn how to do a newborn assessment which will ultimately help you in peds versus a 50 yo with a-fib. Honestly, I don't think I would remember how to care for an adult patient anymore and it has only been a year!
