I live in the Dallas area and I saw that Parkland Hospital is hiring PCT trainee. The position doesn't require any experience. I guess they will train you. Is this a good position to get the experience? I am looking for a career change and I will be going back to school in January. It will be a while before I finish my degree. Will this PCA position help me with a second career in nursing? Thank you for your help.

In my area, PCTs usually obtain vital signs, provide direct comfort care for the patient, assist in ambulating the patient, and perform other tasks and procedures as delegated by a nurse or provider. It would definitely be good for building experience. The only negative is the job can be repetitive. Also, it's usually a lot of physical work for little pay. Nevertheless, if it's something that you are interested in, why not give it a shot? Good luck with your future endeavors!
