Considering going for PCT cert. to find direction...

Nursing Students Technicians

Published

Hi, I am 24 years old. I have been interested in pursuing a degree and career in the healthcare area. One area is nursing. I am currently a emergency medical responder, and finishing certifying for my EMT. I am looking to take ACLS, PALS, and Advanced EMT as becoming more involved in my volunteer service. I also work at the hospital setting up machines for anesthesia for surgeries and medical procedures. In addition stock equipment and drugs. It pays $14 an hour however it is only Per Diem. Within the next year I can apply out of my job for a full time position with internal candidacy preference. I was looking to do something more patient oriented in the hospital to figure out what direction to go in healthcare.

Few questions with knowing ergonomics of lifting patients, medical terminology, performing intravenous for drugs, documenting patients medical reports, pharmacology, and working in trauma medical and surgical procedures way to speed up becoming a PCT?

Second question on average how much does a PCT make? $14-$15 be average?

Appreciate the response
