- Apr 9 by mclukey10I am currently working as a Care Partner! I finished the course in Jan. Let me know if you have any questions!
- Apr 9 by HeatherMaxSo many questions! I just got my acceptance letter, I will start in Aug if I don't get into LPN school. Do you like it? Were you able to find a job after? How is the pay?
- Apr 12 by mclukey10Well...the pay is kinda crappy at only 10.23 and hour but the benefits of working for Sentara are awesome! I got a job right away. They pretty much help you with out with that.
- Apr 12 by virgolove34Quote from mclukey10@mclukey... What's your typical shift like? Like, what do you usually do? I'm applying for care partner jobs now and patiently waiting and hoping for an interview..Well...the pay is kinda crappy at only 10.23 and hour but the benefits of working for Sentara are awesome! - Apr 13 by mclukey10I work 12 hours shifts, 3 days a week from 7am till 7pm. I work on a med-surg floor so my day is busy!! The time really flies by. Most of my day is spent getting vital signs and cleaning up patients. (We have a lot of patients who are incontinent.) I do other things like draw blood, take out catheters and IV's, but the majority is just keeping up with the call bells. The work load is intense but I love it. I am hoping to get into nursing school once I get all my pre-reqs done. I am hoping to gain alot of experience working as a care partner!! Let me know if you have any more questions!
- Apr 13 by virgolove34That sounds fun lol. I'm ready to put some of my clinical skills to use but we haven't learned to draw blood or anything with IVs yet. TCCs nursing program is really good and i enjoy it.. so I hope their program is one of your options. Good luck with all your prereqs. Thanks for answering my question.
- Apr 17 by virgolove34Quote from mclukey10Hey guess what? I just got an interview on a med surge floor for a nursing care partner position. I'm so nervous because I haven't had an interview in 3 years. Do you remember what your interview was like?I work 12 hours shifts, 3 days a week from 7am till 7pm. - Apr 19 by mclukey10Congrats on your interview! Mine was pretty straight forward. The boss just asked me about my strengths and weaknesses and a few questions about my previous jobs and what I did. I had also just graduated the care partner course so she asked about that too. It was mostly basic interview stuff though. I hope yours goes well!!!
- Apr 19 by virgolove34Quote from mclukey10Did they ask any scenario questions? I have an interview on Monday and on Thursday. One is med/surg and the other is cardiac step down. I really want the job at my Thursday interview because its full time and overnight, exactly what I was looking for. I'm so excited. Do you like what you do?Congrats on your interview!
