Programming on Sundays

by Enright

In my role as a government consultant RN I do public speaking on aging and driving. I am contacted by a large # of parish RNs to do presentations for their churches. I enjoy this but encounter one obstacle--I am always asked to do lectures on Sundays. I do not work on Sundays for religious reasons. Many Parish RNs seem to not understand this and often get very frustrated with me. I would hope that working for a religious body would make parish nurses sensitive to this but I do find a lot of anger. Please parish nurses! Be sensitive to the needs of those you ask to do lectures and presentations.
