And those resper masks. They itch and make my face break out in a ring where it touches.

Yikes, I am RT, and I am really hoping it doesn't get too bad. We don't use N95s at my hospital. We use what we call a PAPR, kind like a mask with outward airflow. We only have 15 of these, and think the people hired in the last 4 years would need to be fit tested (not to mention everyone since we used to get tested every year) since they need to be charged, and most likely would run out of battery power if used too much.

I have a feeling RNs that don't like RTs will be utilizing their RT more now Let's hope it's because they have had a change of heart, and not because they see it as a ploy to get rid of us!!!

Becareful everyone!

Makes me glad I'm out on disability right now. I don't care to be exposed to any kind of flu. My husband has stage 4 sarcoidosis, with 31% lung capacity. Keeping him healthy means keeping me and the kids healthy. No thanks, I'll take a pass on the swine flu.

(I actually did have to work during a winter storm disaster once. I was 9 months pregnant, due in 2 weeks, and they called me in. I didn't want to go(obviously) but they threatened my job. I asked them what their plan was should I go into labor--I worked in a Children's Hospital. Not a single Labor suite there. I did go in; it took me 2.5 hrs by 4-wheel drive Jeep to get there over the ice, but I performed my nursing duties. And I made sure it went on my permanent record, too!)
