So where i work we were one of the first units to recieve the vaccine. Becauase of the shortage of H1N1 vaccine, it had to be given out accordingly. I'm a first year nurse working in the cardiac and pulmonary unit, so we get the H1N1 cases that come in.
I got the vaccine 2 fridays ago (over 10 days ago), vaccine takes about 10 days to be effective.
i was exposed exactly 1 week after getting the vaccine!! so only 7 days.... i was exposed by watching my friends 2 year old son, who coughed on me and shoved a popsicle in my mouth that was in his mouth...he was ALL over me! he shoved his finger up my nose that was in his mouth......he DOES have confirmed case of H1N1.
....now i have the EXACT symptoms of H1N1.
soar throat
night sweats
coughing (mucousy!)
wheezing
sneezing
fever (slight-99.3, im usually about 97 something)
fatigue
Could i still get H1N1 in this case??? i had the injection, not the nose spray. What do you think? only reason im asking is....i dont know if i should be at work. I'm off till Saturday so i have a few days to recover and hopefully break my fever without the use of NSAIDS, but it just started a couple days ago. I noticed my symptoms starting Monday (being exposed earlier that firday)
