    Doris, a 67-year-old patient, hardly talks anymore: Thatís because the simple act of speaking causes knifelike pain to her face. Over-the-counter analgesics offer no relief. Almost as bad, the pain ó plus the isolation Doris feels because she so rarely communicates ó is causing depression.

    This covers not only medication therapies, but surgical intervention... something that many of us rarely discuss.
