"Trying out" PACU

I had an interview today for a PACU position and it went very well. They have asked me to come for a few hours next week to work in the PACU with an nurse there to see what I think. I am only used to working with babies, so I am very nervous.

Does anyone have any advice for me for the day I "try out" the PACU? Things to ask, look for, warning signs??

Thanks!!

Default Re: "Trying out" PACU
I think it's very telling of a unit's culture to observe what happens when someone's patient is crashing. I know I'd run like hell if I saw the others ones continuing in their charting. Watch and see if the charge nurse pitches in to help.

Check out the call schedule and the details---how much time to get there, how it is rotated, holidays, time off, etc. Ask about how willing other people are to trade call if someone needs it off.

Find out about transporters/nurse aides in PACU, what their responsibilities are.
