new PCA in PACU
- 1Apr 6, '11 by Erindel RN, ADN, RNhi, i just got an offer for a pca position in the pacu. could any of you nurses let me know what you expect from your techs, and what they typically do on your floor? im just trying to get a feel for what others might do. i am a part time student and ive been volunteering in the preop/pacu area for a year now. i am so excited to have this opportunity to work with these nurses. my goal is to become a pacu nurse once i graduate and get enough exp down. thanks for listening, enjoy your week :redpinkhe
- 0Apr 8, '11 by meandragonbrettA lot of your role will involve transporting patients back to same day surgery, assisting the RNs with transporting of inpatients and critical care patients, ensuring that the PACU bays are stocked with supplies. Running to blood bank to fetch blood, dropping blood off at the lab for any stat labs. You can also always assist with new admissions by helping the RN hook the patient up to the monitor (if you know how....if not ask you be taught) and getting the patient's first temperature.
