UPMC Shadyside pre-amission courses

I am currently going through the admission process for UPMC shadyside. I have college credit with CCAC but I owe CCAC money before they release my transcripts. I am wondering if I should just not request my CCAC credits to be transferred at all to UPMC Shadyside SON because I don't think it would have much of an effect on my admission. I have completed all the sciences and labs that are required from a high school level. Should I still send my transcripts from CCAC?

Any input is much appreciated.

How long ago did you take the courses? You might be able to transfer some of the credits.

Thanks for the reply. I took the courses only a few years ago. I have English 1 and 2, Sociology, History, 3 business courses, and a few electives under my belt. I'm not sure how these general courses will help with the admission to the nursing school now, however may assist in the future in pursuing a BSN. What do you think?

I don't think those classes are any that would transfer. Even though you have your sciences from the high school level, you may still have to take them once you get into Shadyside. I don't think that they will count towards your nursing ed. As far as the ccac classes go, none of the ones you mentioned are part of shadyside's curriculum, so it probably wouldn't matter. However, if you put it on your application that you went there, they will make you get the transcript. Good luck!

I took classes at community college (not CCAC) prior to enrolling at Shadyside. The only classes that transfer are the classes that are part of Shadyside's curriculum (A&P 1 and 2, micro, logic, nutrition). If you took other classes, it might look great for your transcript or GPA, but Shadyside really doesn't care about those other classes. As far as those classes helping you in the future with a BSN, depends where you go for your BSN. I am going to Chatham and they don't require any gen ed classes at all for a BSN. Basically, I ended up wasting a handful of classes, which sounds like what will happen to you if you choose the Shadyside route.

Thanks for info. I appreciate it. I didn't think that my previous classes would have any effect on my admission.
Any other info that you may have, or anyone for that matter is much appreciated.

Thanks again,
