What about co-reqs --anyone prepared beforehand for their nursing courses?

Thank you in advance!

It's possible that Drexel still has spots open for the Fall program. I think the 'early decision' deadline was in october, so you'd probably want a good GPA and stuff.

I did most (all, I think) of my Pre-Req's at the Community College of Philadelphia. It's about $150/credit if you don't live in Pennsylvania as a state resident. Some of the classes can be taken online. All of the pre-req's need to be completed before the nursing program begins (I'm not sure how many weeks/months in advance). The bio sciences (A&PI, II and Micro) need to be less than 5 years old (I had to retake them).

The ACE program is all-inclusive. They'll schedule everything for you. I'm studying an NCLEX reveiw book and "calculating with confidence". But, there should be no co-req's for the program (just the crazy 21-23 credit quarters).

2nd degree,
from what I have heard the lack of transportation can be difficult after the 1st quarter. I wasn't sure if you are planning/keeping the option to get a car at that point... but something you should be aware that others have said clinical locations are all over the place and often require a visit the day prior to get patient data.

Also from what I have seen everyone's financial aid package has been the same... giving you the option / eligibility to take out loans 5th year undergrad max on Stafford and then you the option to fulfill remainder by taking private loans.

Are they sure they told you no becasue of your gpa or because you didn't take enough prequisites?

I had over a 3.0 in the last 60 hours, but I have not finished A&P I, A&P II, or Microbiology so I think that hurt me. I would like to say that I will try again, but by the time that I finish the prerequisites, and apply again, I can apply to a school in Georgia and be finished around the same time. I am going to go with some other options, so I have not given up hope yet.

Hi all, I got accepted for Fall09 as well, although I'm a little hesitant due to cost. I'll be coming from CA and everything will be on me. I suppose loans will help me out with the 30k tuition. Another reason is transportation. I wasn't planning on having a car. And then there's housing.... Any advice??? I also looked up the facebook group account on Drexel's ACE 08-09 class and I hear only 1/2 of the students get cut off!!! Is this program that difficult??? Thanks in advance. -J

.... jrguzman, my understanding is a vehicle is pretty much needed for quarters 2-4 as your clinical locations are potentially - all over the place
The 'attrition rate' of 0.5 seems high (not sure if that is an official stat...) but if you look at ALL college programs in general and especially harder ones...which I believe includes nursing.. there is always a pretty significant number of folks that don't make it for a variety of reasons.. change of goals, family, sickness, financial, grades, etc.
The loans that are available pretty much enable you to take out loans for all of tuition, housing, and books... I haven't heard of any real financial aid awards - just authorization for your to max out your stafford and then take out a private loan for the rest... so I think it's possible to get through financially - it's just gauging whether you think 60k'ish (my estimate for everything....) is worth if for a BSN... then calculate the advantage of getting done 1 year early.. and that provides you RN earning power vs being in school for a bit longer in a standard program.
to each his own

Does any one know if you need good or excellent credit to secure the private loan for the tuition?
