What is everyone doing about health insurance for the ACE year? I think ACE has a partnership with Aetna student health but I am unsure of signing onto this plan.. ?

You will learn about it during orientation. The lady who's in charge of insurance does a big talk about it. No matter what, you must have health insurance prior to starting the program. I kept my own insurance rather then taking theirs because I thought mine was a better deal. You just have to fill out an online form for one or the other and show proof of insurance by a certain date after starting.

Question Re: Drexel University-ACE Program Fall '09
Hi,
I'm accepted for the Spring 2010 semester and I'm a little nervous. Can anybody, who is/was in the ACE program already, tell me what your schedule was for the four quarters?

Just_cause, if you don't mind me asking, how did you go about deferring your application from spring to fall? Was it a difficult process and did you need a good reason? I'm also considering deferring from spring to fall, but for 2010.

Thanks in advance! =)

Hey guys if anybody has any questions about the ACE program i have lived and survived it (easily might i say), if you need advice or have questions let me know, just remember not to believe all the crazy hype and to keep yourself surrounded with sane individuals because most people in the program will be crazy!

Tlvball15,
Thank u for your post! I read a lot of crazy things on here about the Ace Program! I have a few questions...
What was your schedule like? Like, after class/clinicals were you able to make it home at a decent time? Were your weekends spent studying or were you still able to enjoy? Should I get the Calculate w/ Confidence book now for some math test? (oh, I start in the Fall 2009 cohort)
Thx!

Ok well for starters, the schedule does suck, once u get into the 2nd, 3 and 4 th quarter. THe first quarter isnt that bad cuz you only have on clinical. You make it home at a decent time cuz class is done by 4:50 the latest. I played vball on a team at drexel while in the program(like competively and traveled) and on weekends i went home to north jersey and worked 12 hr shifts on sat and sunday. calculate with confidence is prob the only book you should get for the first semester most of the books for first semester arent that necessary

Wow- I'm impressed- did you play on the team during the whole program?

What was your method of studying? Since you didn't get any books the first quarter, did you just go off powerpoints or did you get stuff like the reviews and rationales series? Did you have any health care experience going in?

Yes for at least half of the program i played. My method of studying is a hard to describe, but i'm not a bookworm by any means. I used powerpoints mostly, thats the most important thing in my eyes, books should be used to reinforce concepts u dont understand from lecture. The books are on reserve at library if necessary. NEVER did i use a review and rationale book at all!!! waste of money in my eyes, i did get like a nclex review book and used that towards the 3rd quarter to just study from for my tests. As far as health care experience, i had a BS in exercise science that was about it.

Thanks Tlvball,
I was actually thinking about playing a sport too! I have my BS in Biology w/ a minor in Health Science...do you think you had somewhat of an easier time b/c of ur undergrad work? I hear ppl complain about the program, but often wonder if they are coming from a completely different field of expertise (ie Business, finance ect)...
