My name is Kelli I am a nursing student and my sister has scoliosis that was corrected when she was 14 years old at Scottish Rite hospital in Dallas. She wore a brace for 2.5 years prior to surgery, which was obviously unsuccessful. She is now 28 years old and according to her most recent scans, the degree of curvature has returned to pre-surgery status and now has an additional curve below the original surgery, she also has sciatica, spinal cord stenosis, a bone spur on the inner aspect of either L4 or L5, and a (11 mm- approx) herniated disc around L4-5 as well. She has been visiting several doctors looking for ways to postpone surgery for as long as possible and find anyone who knows 1. what they are talking about to an obvious and extreme degree 2. is willing to share this information with her openly, honestly, and completely 3. and is the best of the best when it comes to performing surgery if needed. She is feeling very lost and scared right now as she has been to a neuro surgeon and now an orthopedic surgeon, but isn't sure who is the right person to talk to and if her case is so complex that she needs better surgeons who have dealt with this kind of case before. Her pain is getting severe as well as the numbness in her leg, and she is afraid she won't be able to work much longer- she wants to take action ASAP. If any special ortho nurses out there have ANY advice for me and my sister, PLEASE let me know.

Your sister is very lucky to have such a caring sis as you. :)

Your love for her and sense of urgency for her treatment are palpable.

Is there a scoliosis specialist in your area?

I googled "scoliosis specialist" and got several suggestions for specific locations.

Perhaps if you search for "scoliosis specialist " ? ?
