Trauma assessment units

I am working in an area which is due to expand from a 28 bedded ward to a complete trauma unit comprising of both ward beds and a new trauma assessment unit. This is a new development and still in it's early planning stages, I would love to hear from nurses who have been involved in something like this or who'd just have an opinion to express on this subject. Grateful for any replies.
