Hello Everyone, I am new to allnurses and am looking for advice. I am a professional who is changing careers to nursing. I am applying to a RN program for Fall 2010, but before that, I am taking a CNA course so I can gain practical nursing/healthcare experience. I know it's grunt bottom of the barrel work, but hey, it's experiece right!! One hospital is a rehab hospital with a specialty ortho floor. HR says I can work as a PCT, then when I start RN (locally) I can be a nurse tech. The other hospital is a general hospital affiliated with a university and is a teaching hospital. They have a PCT position that is 50% adult ortho and 50% ped ortho. My question is do you think it's better to work in the specialty rehab hospital, or does it not matter? BTW, I chose ortho nursing bcse of the rehab aspect and because it's not the blood/gore/mortality of many other specialties.
