by SWAT_RN Nov 10, '05Hi all! I am an orthopedic surgery virgin (well almost). DH was in an MVC 10 days ago. Had a shattered patella, open fx. of course and ORIF done that day. Also has fx calcaneous, to have ORIF this week. Any idea as to rehab time with these types injuries? He's healthy otherwise. Doc says 1 year

- Nov 11, '05 by bluestarI'm not an ortho nurse, but with the description you give of the injuries I'm thinking the doctor's probably right. God bless your husband and you, and hope he has a speedy recovery.
- Nov 11, '05 by LoriAlabamaRNA year does sound about right. I am so sorry for what you are going through and also send my prayers. I know a year sounds like forever, but keep in mind that he will not be totally helpless during that time- he will probably be getting around on his own in about 6-8 weeks, but it takes a while to fully recover.
