open reduction wrist for new nursing student
-
I am set to start school in 2 weeks and just broke my arm and need open reduction surgery. I have displaced fx of left distal radius.
The school said they could make special accomedations for 2 weeks only. and I haven't even had the surgery yet... can anyone tell me how long after surgery until I can do skills checkoffs etc?About Boston-RN

Ask if you can have the kind of cast that can get wet amd then dries very quickly. The school has to make accomodations for you as well. Once your arm is stabilized you should be able to start the check offs. I have had students who did it. Tell the surgeon. They may elect pins over other techniques.I am set to start school in 2 weeks and just broke my arm and need open reduction surgery. I have displaced fx of left distal radius.

The school needs to give you a little longer, too. Go to the associate dean or dean of nursing or academics if they stick to the two weeks. There is nothing magical about 14 days versus 18 days or 21 days. You may have to make up a clinical. Many do. If you have a good GPA, they should work with you. My university would.
