new job

I just started my new job at a Ortho surgens office. There are a lot of terms that I need to become familiar with, does anyone know of any good resources for me to check out? Also, if anyone knows of where I can go in the west to take some kind of training on how to put casts etc on could you let me know? I really want this job to work out and I think the more knowledge that I have and the more willing I am to learn the better off I will be. I am always open for suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Default Re: new job
I learned casting from the orthopaedic resident doctors. I learned termanology from working ortho, the core corriculum book that the National Assn of Orthopaedic Nurses puts out but mainly OJT<. Is your doctor receptive to teaching you? The Zimmer company used to do workshops on traction, but since it's rarely done anymore I haven't heard of a workshop in a few years-ortho techs usually take care of that and casting. Try orthonurse.org for their take on it.
