Knee Replacement and Danskos?

    I'm getting my left knee replaced in three weeks. The surgeon's office says bring slip on shoes to the hospital to wear for PT. The only slip on shoes I have are my Dansko professionals. Will those work, or is the "rocker action" a bad thing? Should I be shoe shopping? (As if I needed an excuse!)

    Preferably a pair of flat soles with treads, like a slip on sneaker or the like, is preferred.

    Hi, Ruby Vee!

    I'm also having knee replacement in 3 weeks. My surgeon's nurse told me not to bring slip on shoes. She said I need something I can adjust (like sneakers) in case I have any swelling in my feet.

    I'm having my right knee done so between us we'll have 2 good legs!

    I had my right knee replacement early Monday morning & was up walking @ 1pm that day. Yesterday, PT had me go up a flight of stairs & back down twice. In less than an hour my husband will be here to take me home!!
    I've had very little pain & walking is much easier than I thought it would be. The strangest thing is that my knee doesn't go snap, crackle, pop when I walk now! That will take some getting used to.

    I would vote for sneakers in case the foot swells. I think danskos will be too much at first for balance and height.

    My doctor was very specific about having lace up shoes in the hospital because of swelling.
