CRPS Diagnosis


Hi all, I had my hand in a cast to immobilize it for 3 weeks in order to heal a torn ligament on my middle knuckle. The injury itself has healed fine but when the cast came off my hand became very swollen and painful. I was diagnosed with CRPS (pain syndrome). Has anyone heard of a cure for the pain other than the recommended stellate ganglion nerve block? Thanks in advance. Kevin

Kevin, I'm sorry that we cannot offer medical advice. Your best option is your orthopedist. Perhaps you might ask for a second opinion if you have questions.

Along with P_RN, I would encourage you to get a second or even a third opinion. You might want to consult a neurosurgeon, especially one who does microsurgery. CRPS involves nerves, not bones.

Consult docs in several specialty areas until you are certain you have enough information to make an informed decision.
