how do you know which hospitals are union? I am from Houston and looking at Oregon vs Washington , are all hospitals union? I have 20 yrs exp in ER /ICU, i would like a small coastal area . Any ideas where to look?

The Oregon Nurses Association is not the only union in Oregon. I believe SEICU? represents Kaiser's employees. Not sure the union that represents OHSU. Legacy is non-union except for support staff...go figure.

The bargaining unit is ONA- not the hospital itself, that would be a futile process ;)

The only thing I know is that experienced nurses go for the non-union hospital jobs. I guess they're better employers.

I don't think that's necessarily the case for the majority of nurses but you're free to have your opinion. Ask experienced nurses in union hospitals their opinion:)

Sorry, I don't have an opinion on the subject but a couple of the nurses I know have worked for hospital "A" a union hospital and leave to work for hospital "B" which is non-union. They say that hospital B treats them better as employees. It may have nothing to do with being union or non-union. I would be happy working anywhere once I graduate so that's my only opinion.

SEIU is a Union at Kaiser that does not represent nurses. OFNHP represents the nurses.
