I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on the LPN programs at either Concorde Career College of Apollo College?... Read More

I don't know what kind of training she had, or how long that she had worked, just that she was a LPN, and they evaluated her for her skills and knowledge. She started the 2nd quarter of our program so she was only 1 quarter ahead, and this is at PCC, so an ASN program. She had to go through the lottery system, like eveyone else, just got to skip the first term, as she already had that knowledge.
Years ago when the colleges would let the 1st year students sit for NCLEX-LP, they would allow LPN's apply to the 2nd year of the program, but then the colleges stopped allowing the students to sit for the LPN exam.
I know that my school did this for this one LPN, however next year my college is going to OCNE and I dont know if that all changes now.
I remeber reading something at OHSU website about advance placement for lpn's in thier RN program, but this was a couple of years ago, when I was considering doing the LPN - RN route

0Apr 16, '10 by lazarusstylesI am currently attending Apollo and so far enjoying it. Yes, it is expensive, yes, they promise a lot, but I am glad I got into the program. The teachers are very nice and very-very helpful! They work with you and they really want you to succeed. It is tough and gets tougher every semester.
I know that Pioneer Pacific is a joke! Don't really know anything about Concorde college. I talked to their rep once and he wasn't very nice. He kept pushing me to chose Medical Assistance program.
Do your research, if you chose Apollo, I have an advice for you. Don't buy their books. They are charging too much for them. Half of our class went online and got books for at least 40 dollars cheaper!
0Apr 17, '10 by abree0323Hello! To the above poster thank you so much for your info! I recently got information from apollo about the next start date which is July so I'm thinking about going with them. I have all of my prereqs done from community college but am sick of the wait so hopefully I get to skip first semester if I choose to go to Apollo. I have yet to contact Concorde just to see the differences between the two, but I'm leaning more towards Apollo.

We contacted different schools before we chose Apollo. And again, it is not the perfect school but not the worst one =)
Good luck and hope you have a great journey!
