Legacy Health RN Residency 2011

U.S.A. Oregon

Did anyone applied to the Cohort 2011 RN residency at Legacy Health?

Would you please give me the number you called for HR? I want to call and find out if they are done calling the people accepted into the program. I just don't want to have to wonder during the weekend.

Thanks!

Did you find out anything?? It seems as though we missed the boat this time. :( back to the drawing board I guess :crying2:

NO, I called, but I only got a voicemail. I left a message 2 hours ago and still no call. Would it be too much to ask just to get a definitive no, so we can sleep this weekend?

I was so wound up I ended up calling HR too! This is how the conversation went:

Me: I was wondering if you had sent out all final offers for the Nurse Residency program yet?

Lady: yes I believe so but would you like to talk to.....?

Me: yes that would be fine (trying not to hide my profound sadness)

*Placed on hold*

Lady: did you get a secoumd interview?

Me: yes

Lady: okay let me connect you to.....

I then got a voicemail and left a messeage. I doubt she will call back (no reflection on her, just how I think The rules go) So it sounds as though we did not make it this time. I knew it was a long shot but I thought m interview went really well... Oh well I will try to not take it personally and maybe email net week on how I can improve myself for the future!! Best of luck to us still looking and again SUPER Congrats to Lilredrn!! :yeah::yeah:

For everyone who got a second interview, are you currently working? I wonder if that makes a difference in whether or not you are chosen. I too had a second interview and thought it went REALLY well. I interviewed for the same floor as I did my senior immersion. I am currently working at a SNF in Tigard. Wonder if that makes a difference. Oh well...as long as we don't have a years experience by the next go round, we can try again :)

In response to iamnumber9, I am not currently working. I graduated the first of June, and I am taking the NCLEX on Tuesday. I couldn't get an earlier date. I wonder if that is part of the reason I did not get an offer. Well, best of luck to you all! I plan on applying for the next cohort! I'm still hopeful, but then again this is the first interview I've had. Time to pass the NCLEX and start looking for a job!

I do not work, I graudated in June too. And I have already passed the NCLEX (3 weeks ago). I also know of two people that got offers that still don't have their licenses. So who knows what the reasons are...

I just got my rejection email from Legacy. Oh well. At least they informed me. Have a good weekend everyone :)

Rejection email just came for me as well. But, I made it into an internship in Coos Bay, and I'm very happy :)

Good luck everyone with your job search.

Hi lilredRN,

I'm starting my nursing program in September and already thinking about graduating and preparing for the job search :)

I was curious what your "resume" was like from a grades/volunteering/job experience standpoint...what do you think differentiated you from other candidates and helped you land this great opportunity with Legacy?

As I begin my program I want to work on becoming a strong candidate for the Legacy New Grad program. I would love any tips or suggestions you have!!

Congratulations. I would also love to hear how it's going and what your experience is like as you go through the program when or if you have time to share.

Thank you in advance. I hope to see some future posts from you!!

My best advice would be to consider your senior practicum an extended job interview. My interactions with the team at my senior practicum there is what landed me this job.

I served in student government, have a 3.8 GPA, worked 13 years in patient care, had amazing references, and was ACLS certified. None of this mattered with the other 150+ applications that were rejected. The market is really tight right now and some say it is all about who you know, and who noticed you.

Cultivate relationships with the team you are working with everywhere you go. Ask for letters of reference. Get their email address. Keep in touch with them. Good luck!

Which college are you attending?

I'll be part of the first Fall Cohort for OHSU's Accelerated Bachelors program. I was on the alternate list and also accepted into PCC and found out at the end of May OHSU opened up a new Fall Cohort (normally one cohort for ABSN with a Summer Start) I'm excited about graduating in a year and half, December 2012 yet also want to be prepared for the job search process given the competitive climate out there.

Thank you very much for your advice. Did you do your senior practicum at Legacy? I know we will be doing clinicals at a variety of hospitals, not only OHSU and I"m looking forward to it.

Congratulations again!!

I'd be interested in hearing from anyone that got accepted into this cohort that was from out of state, particularly a compact state. I will be completing my BSN in May of 2012 in North Carolina and hoping to move back to Portland.

My main question is concerning applying for OR licensing. Would it be best to take my NCLEX and indicate Oregon as the state that I would like to be initially licensed in? Is this possible? If not can I start the licensing process (background check, fingerprinting, fees, etc.) before taking the test?

I know that the employment market in the PDX area is tight but really want to be back on the westside of the country.

Thanks,

Bill
