Give me the "inside scoop" on Legacy Emanuel

U.S.A. Oregon

I am moving from Seattle to Portland soon and have accepted a position at Emanuel. Can someone (preferably a current or former employee) tell me what the hospital is really like for nursing. I know that they do "self scheduling" there and have had no prior experince with this. Is this good/bad? Am I going to get totally screwed on the schedule because I'm the new guy (i.e. seniority issues)? Also, I know there is no union there--is this an issue? I would much appreciate any input. Thanks..

Hi:

I have been searching for informatin on Portland and where to live/ good hospitals to work. I am hoping you've been PM'd with answers as there is nothing here. I am an OR nurse and since it seems as if you have started already, would love to hear how it is going there.

Thanks so much!:nurse:

Hello:

So far it's been great. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. This would be an interesting place to work in OR--lots of burns/plastics and trauma cases. Pay is competitive and biweekly. Orientation and preceptorship program is comparable to other hospitals in the area. The non-union thing hasn't been an issue yet but I know there is an undercurrent to organize. Still waiting to hear replies/answers to my original post. Hope this helps!:rotfl:

Thank you so much! That is really good to hear. How do you like Portland in comparison to Seattle?
